Delta time
Delta time is the live gap between your current lap and a reference lap, shown as plus (slower) or minus (faster) seconds.
Also called: delta, predictive delta, live delta
Delta compares where you are now with where you were at the same point on a reference lap, usually your best. If the display reads minus 0.3, you are three tenths up on that lap at this spot. Plus 0.5 means half a second down. A predictive delta projects that gap to estimate what your current lap will finish at.
The real power is seeing the number change through a corner. If delta gets worse in the braking zone but recovers by the exit, a later braking point may not be helping. If it jumps after a change in your line, you get instant feedback without waiting for the lap to finish.
Treat delta as a coach for straights, not something to stare at in corners. Glance at it on a straight where your eyes have time, then put them back on the track ahead. Chasing a negative number lap after lap also invites over-driving; use it to test one idea at a time.
Delta turns every corner into an experiment with immediate feedback, which speeds up learning dramatically.
Delta compares where you are now with where you were on your reference lap at the same point of the track. Negative (green) means you're ahead.
